Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEI Report)

The Ferrybridge Next Generation Power Station PEI Report is organised by chapters. All supporting documents for each PEI Report chapter, such as technical appendices or accompanying  figures, are included in each chapter section. 

A Non-Technical Summary (NTS) of the PEI Report has been prepared to provide a clear and accessible overview of project proposals including the likely environmental impacts, proposed mitigation measure and the results of initial assessments to date.

Statutory Consultation extension statement (published 4 October 2025)

SSE Thermal is extending the statutory consultation period for Ferrybridge Next Generation Power Station. The deadline for feedback has been extended to 11.59pm on Sunday 19 October 2025. The new close date of 19 October replaces the previous statutory consultation period close date of Monday 6 October. The statutory consultation period opened on Friday 5 September 2025.  

The extension follows the identification that a small number of Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEI Report) appendices, figure documents and its non-technical summary were not available on the PEI Report webpage, hosted and accessed through the project website at www.ssethermal.com/FBNG. Access to all PEI Report documents, via the project website, was corrected on Monday 15 September 2025.

For recipients of ‘Section 42’ and ‘Section 44’ letters, full and complete access to all PEI Report documents, including the ability to download documents, has been available via a fileshare link since the statutory consultation period opened on Friday 5 September 2025.  

The statutory consultation period has been extended for all consultees.

As described in Chapter 1: Introduction, the Ferrybridge Next Generation PEI Report follows the naming convention of PEI Report Volume I (chapters), PEI Report Volume II (supporting technical appendices accompanying the PEI Report) and PEI Report Volume III (figures accompanying the PEI Report). Other documents are named as referenced in the PEI Report.
