Our 735MW Medway Power Station is a flexible gas-fired plant located on the Isle of Grain, Kent. It entered full commercial operation in 1995.

Indian Queens Power Station is an OCGT (Open Cycle Gas Turbine) power station located in Cornwall. The station has an output capacity of 140 MW providing voltage support to the UK electricity market as part of an ancillary services contract with National Grid. It is operated by Triton Power, which is jointly owned by SSE Thermal and Equinor.

Saltend Power Station is a CCGT (Combined Cycle Gas Turbine) CHP (Combined Heat & Power) power station located on the Humber Estuary in East Yorkshire. The station has an output capacity of 1200 MW providing power to the UK electricity market, and power and steam to the adjacent Saltend Chemicals Park. It is operated by Triton Power, which is jointly owned by SSE Thermal and Equinor.

Deeside Power Station, a decommissioned CCGT in north Wales which provides carbon-free inertia to the system. It is operated by Triton Power, which is jointly owned by SSE Thermal and Equinor.

Our 460MW Great Island Power Station is located on the shores of Waterford Harbour at Great Island, Co. Wexford

Our 735MW Keadby 1 Power Station is a flexible gas-fired plant located in North Lincolnshire. It entered full commercial operation in 1996.

Keadby 2 is a new 840MW gas-fired power station in North Lincolnshire currently being constructed by our EPC contractor Siemens Energy. The project is adjacent to our operational Keadby 1 Power Station.

SSE Thermal is actively developing Keadby 3, which could become the UK’s first power station equipped with carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology by the mid-2020s.

The 840MW Marchwood Power Station is a flexible gas-fired plant located near Southampton.

Our 1,180MW Peterhead Power Station is a flexible gas-fired plant located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It first became operational in 1982.

Rhode Power Station is a 104MW ‘peaker’ plant situated at Rhode, Co. Offaly, in the heart of the Bog of Allen. It commenced commercial operation in 2004.

The 1,140MW Seabank Power Station is a flexible gas-fired plant located in Hallen Marsh, Bristol.

Our 620MW Tarbert Power Station is situated on the Shannon Estuary in Tarbert, Co. Kerry.

Tawnaghmore Power Station is a 104MW ‘peaker’ plant situated south of Killala in Co. Mayo. It commenced commercial operation in 2003.

The Aldbrough Gas Storage facility, in East Yorkshire, officially opened in June 2011. The last of the nine caverns entered commercial operation in November 2012.

Chickerell is a 45MW gas-fired embedded power station in Weymouth, Dorset, which was commissioned in 1999. The station generates electricity into the local DNO (SSE Networks) network and operates within the GB electricity market as a balancing market unit (BMU).

Burghfield is a 45MW gas-fired embedded power station near Reading, Berkshire, which was commissioned in 1999. The station generates electricity into the local DNO (SSE Networks) network and operates within the GB electricity market as a balancing market unit (BMU).

SSE Thermal is developing Slough Multifuel as a 50:50 joint venture with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP)
