Our 620MW Tarbert Power Station, located on the Shannon Estuary in Co. Kerry, closed at the end of 2023 in line with EU emissions regulations. The station comprised two 60MW and two 250MW oil-fired turbines and its principal function was to help maintain security of electricity supply in Ireland’s all-island Single Electricity Market (SEM) by being available to operate on quick responses to peaks in national energy demand.

As a company, we are bringing forward new plans on the Tarbert site including our proposed Tarbert Next Generation Power Station. Read more here.
